Michigan vs. New York, Movie Theater version

One wonderful thing that Michigan has which New York City does not: consistent cheap movie matinees. Five dollars!

Since moving to NYC Sean and I have seen one movie, Black Swan. The theater was PACKED (it was Saturday night I guess) and it was expensive. Given the price, the crowds, and the possibility of bed bugs, we have reserved going to the theater for movies we really want to see and just wait for the rest to be available on Netflix.

However, while in Michigan I have gone to see 3 movies and it has cost me $15. Water for Elephants was good, I actually enjoyed it more than the book. Something Borrowed was pretty ridiculous but perfect for an afternoon with girlfriends. Bridesmaids was by far the best, hilarious, fall over in your seat kind of funny. Sean and I have been laughing about it for a few days and definitely recommend it.

So in the realm of cheap movie going experiences, Michigan wins. But of course when you add in public transportation, taxis, and so many fabulous restaurants and bars to try....I think NYC might win on the overall night out experience.
